Herbs on the Kerbs - Bread Streets

As you know we have been working on the Bread streets for quiet some time, trying different ways to get help in maintaining the planters down the streets.

We were quite overwhelmed with the amount of volunteers that came forward from 8 of the 12 streets and we thought we should phase the delivery of plants to four of the streets and then to the other four.

This turned out to be a good idea as we started to see that this was not going to be as easy as we first thought. From the first delivery it became apparent that we needed lots more plants per street, we also needed to dispose of the green waste and  although some of the volunteers agreed to help it looks as though that they didn't realise the hard work and time it would take, even just to clear the planters.

So we decided to speak with James from the council who is  the local areas  Street Scene Officer and we are now looking at a "Green Waste Collection Scheme"for the 12 streets. We are also arranging a different supplier of plants and every Friday myself, Mike and Elise will be helping out the streets volunteers by digging up the planters in preparation for the plants arrival.
