Lunch with the Nigerian Elders

Dorcas who organises these lunches in Toxteth Town Hall kindly invited me to share a meal with the Elders and chat to them about work that we are involved with here around the L8LS project. For this session we looked at the food and the growing side of the project. Everyone had a tale to tell about their success and disaster stories around growing. We had a really good laugh sharing those experiences.

To encourage the Elders to think about growing I handed out different types of herbs with Lavender being the most popular in the group. It was clear that the group had a wide knowledge of herbs in their cooking already.

As we waited for our lunch to be served, we all took part in a gardening word search . It ended up being very competitive but I declared everyone a winner for taking such an interest and showing so much enthusiasm. I promised I would be back after their summer break to look how we can work together to improve energy efficiency around the home.
