Myself and Nicky attended Local Solutions on Friday 20 November, not knowing what to expect, when we were asked to assist in packing a thousand winter hampers. When we saw the volume of goods, we both thought we would be there till after Christmas. Not so, with the enthusiasm and attendance from another twenty partners the job was completed in just over two hours.The Lord Mayor launched the event with words of encouragement and gratitude to everyone involved. Everyone got into the Christmas spirit packing to some good old Christmas tunes and some took the Christmas spirit even further by packing in Christmas outfits that ranged from onesies to Father Christmas.
Hampers content included: Draft Excluder, Thermos Cup, Fleecy Blanket, Hat, Socks, Scarves and a wide selection of Food and Drink. In total the value of each hamper came to fifty pounds.
Local Solutions very kindly selected a number of agencies to donate a number of Hampers to. Granby Toxteth Development Trust received five hampers . Will keep you posted on where they are going.
After this event it had certainly put me in the Christmas mood and I spent Saturday doing some of my own Christmas shopping!
