World in Princes Park Carnival

Brouhaha International celebrated the 10th year of the Liverpool International Carnival. The Carnival celebrates the diverse communities of Merseyside through this year's theme of Global Fete.

The world was definitely in Princes Park this year… with performing arts companies from Germany, Martinique, the Netherlands, Hungary, Trinidad, Poland, Reunion Island, France, Turkey, Spain, Portugal and Ireland taking part. Also involved were community groups from Liverpool, Sefton, Wirral and Halton as well as national participation by carnival troupes from Preston and London.

Following the parade, there was a celebration diversity on three stages of local, regional, national and international performances. The festival hosted a family Circus Garden area with children’s workshops and performances, international food stalls, an interactive installation ‘Sound System Culture’ which explored the development of reggae ‘Sound Systems’ in the North of England and Liverpool Street Handball demonstrations for those who were in a sporting mood.

The L8LS team got involved in the community section, giving away seeds and information as well as providing advice on growing.
